Kim Trainor + Hazel Fairbairn (Modified Fiddle + Sound)
Every season, selected artists, musicians, dancers, poets or writers are invited to respond to our exhibitions in creative ways. Poet and writer, Kim Trainor will read from Ledi, her award-winning book of poetry detailing the excavation of an ancient burial mound filled with the collections of an Iron-Age woman. Flowers and grasses at the grave site inspire memories of the narrator’s lover. Recording and Performing Musician Hazel Fairbairn creates layers of original sound & music using an electronically modified fiddle, responding to the Ledi text and to the rhythms of the exhibition. Both teach at Douglas College.
