ARTIST TALK - STEFAN TIEFENGRABER

February 24,  7:00 pm - 7:30pm 2017
Opening Reception BRINK 7:30 - 10:00 2017

Stefan Tiefengraber will present a short Artist Talk to kick off the opening reception for BRINK.   Tiefengraber will discuss his practice and the work in the exhibition, User Generated Server Destruction, 2013.   Born in 1981, the artist lives and works in Linz, Austria. After working for six years in a film production company he moved to Linz where he studied time-based and interactive media at the University of Art and Design.  His practice is multidisciplinary; performance, video, documentaries, electronic media sculpture, sound art and has been presented around the world.

Following the Artist Talk please join us for the opening reception of BRINK, a group exhibition that pivots between control and anarchy. Electronic media & robotic works as well video installations suggest fragile equilibriums. There are ambiguous tensions here; between freedom of choice and its repercussions; between what we understand as success, failure or stasis.  Works teeter, circle and flail in the balance.  There is an acute awareness of boundaries and territories. The timing and anticipation of what might happen next; the resolution we hope for (the resolution we fear) leads us to the brink.
