Elliott Slinn (poetry)
We are delighted to announce the twelfth in an ongoing series of experimental, performative exhibition responses that take place in the gallery. Every season, selected artists, musicians, dancers, poets or writers are invited to respond to our exhibitions in creative ways. For a unique textual fragment of indivisible, poet Elliott Slinn will be in the gallery, observing, listening, & composing short works on his typewriter….then giving them away.

“I love connecting with strangers…through poetry. There’s a certain magic that transpires, when the words take over and bridge the gap from heart to heart.”

Poet, writer and recording artist, Elliott Slinn is New Westminster’s fifth (and youngest) Poet Laureate. In addition to advocating for literacy and the literary arts and helping to raise the status of poetry, language and the arts, the poet laureate also develops meaningful engagement opportunities that enrich the lives of residents and visitors to the city. Slinn’s poetry and lyrics focus on the existential events of our day-to-day existence.
