The Atari Punk Console is a stepped-tone synthesizer that makes a wide range of sounds like old video game music. By using a 556 timer, we’ll create a simple circuit that can become the basis for more complex DIY synthesizers. You’ll learn circuitry and sound synthesizer basics. We’ll get lo-fi in this workshop and play with the basics of sound synthesis. We’ll learn how to control the pitch and volume of a sound synthesizer. Adult and Kid Artists, Musicians and makers will enjoy building this fun instrument. And we’ll explore some electronic music history.
